Brainstorming meet at HSR Symposium in Montreux, Switzerland

A few of us attending the First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Montreux, Switzerland thought it might be a good idea to sit down and talk a little about the communityhealth.in project. We will me meeting at the ITM Emerging Voices stall in the marketplace over lunch (12.45pm to 1.15pm) on Wednesday, 17 November 2010. Click here to download the flyer.

Exploring Community Health is a portal that brings together ideas and contacts for newcomers to the community health movement who are eager to explore and find out more. It in turn links to portals on People within the community health movement, Reading about community health, Films on health, Community health projects, Postgraduate education in community health and Community health internships and medical electives in India .
The People’s Health Movement portal brings together information on Jan Swathya Abhiyan and its various member organizations, the PHM charters and other articles about the largest network of Health For All activists in the world.
The History of community health and public health in India portal consists of time-lines of health related events stretching back to the 19th century.
The Public health legislation portal is a comprehensive list of central government acts that are relevant to public health in India.
We have links to a number of PDF texts of important government and civil society publications such as all the Health Committee and Commission reports, the NHA 1 booklets and the NHA 2 booklets.
The Current Events page lists upcoming health movement related events.
We also have a small but growing Glossary of Health For All terms.

Offline forms for the internet challenged

One of the problems we have faced in the past is that many people do want to contribute content to the wiki but are hesitant to sign up and start editing. To overcome this we have created to forms which allow the collection of information on individuals and organisations that need to be profiled. You can download the forms from the links below, fill them up and mail them to lalit82ATgmail.com and I will convert them into wiki articles.

A Forty Day Visual Feast

Gregory Kapfhammer is organising A Forty Day Visual Feast, a competition to create information visualizations that will inspire and educate both scientists and artists. The deadline for submission is 1 November 2009.

This might be a great oppurtunity for some of us to come together to create some visuals on Health For All. Anyone interested? The comment section is open.

Prof. Hans Rosling on swine flu hype

Professor Hans Rosling is without doubt one of the gods of visualing health data. His captivating 2006 TED talk and other videos have guaranteed him a cult following. Here is Prof. Rosling reminding us of media hype and creating a new health indicator, the News/Death Ratio.
